CBMLA Internship

CBMLA Internship provides CBMLA high school youth the opportunity to work in dynamic career areas through paid internships for six weeks during their summer break. Through CBMLA’s internship, students have the opportunity to gain tangible skills that they can use well beyond their internship. These experiences can level the playing field for many of our students in Los Angeles and act as a ladder for future employment opportunities!

Internship Opportunities

 Social Media Specialist

We are looking for a creative intern to engage the CBMLA audience on social media.

Internship Duration:
6 weeks; 10 hours per week

Compensation:
$600 stipend for internship duration

Role:
The goal is to gradually achieve superior customer engagement and intimacy, website traffic and revenue by strategically exploiting all aspects of the social media marketing roadmap.

Responsibilities:
Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification

Generate, edit, publish and share content (original text, images, video or HTML) 4 times a week that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action

Logging and monitoring work hours online

Attending two weekly meetings with supervisors

Attending all mandatory orientations

Completing survey and reflection assignments

Outcomes:
A photo album of CBMLA members and events of 150 high quality images

A CBMLA Video highlighting Emerging Leaders

Create and Manage a Social Media Page for CBMLA (with outcome goals)

Web Blogger

We are looking for a strong, reflective writer to engage the CBMLA audience.

Internship Duration:
6 weeks; 10 hours per week

Compensation:
$600 stipend for internship duration

Role:
Bloggers are freelance writers who maintain an online journal or website, also known as a blog. Bloggers can choose to write about anything ranging from literature, fashion, and lifestyle, to technology and social issues.

Responsibilities:
Write 3 blog articles about current events that affect the lives of young people in Los Angeles from your personal perspective.

Write 1 research based blog article that addresses current events in your community.

Logging and monitoring work hours online

Attending two weekly meetings with supervisors

Attending all mandatory orientations

Completing survey and reflection assignments

Outcomes:
4 published blogs on Concerned Black Men of Los Angeles website

Website Designer

We are looking for a motivated learner to design a website for CBMLA youth audience.

Internship Duration:
6 weeks; 10 hours per week

Compensation:
$600 stipend for internship duration

Role:
A web designer is responsible for creating an online site or pages. This includes the design, layout and coding, and can mean working on a brand new website or updating an already existing site.

Responsibilities:
Creating a website design for CBMLA Youth Page  

Logging and monitoring work hours online

Attending two weekly meetings with supervisors

Attending all mandatory orientations

Completing survey and reflection assignments

Outcomes:
A 5-page Concerned Black Men of Los Angeles Youth website
