Welcome to Womanhood is a girls’ mentoring program designed to provide African-American girls with the tools needed to become successful. Students will participate in activities including panel discussions, 1:1 mentoring, and exercises of self-esteem, financial literacy, college prep, and more.

Welcome to Womanhood is a group mentoring program for young girls ages 11-19 years old. This program has been in place for over 3 years. Funds donated to Welcome to Womanhood are used for workshop supplies, materials, food, field trips, transportation for field trips, workshop location and facilitator fees.

The Welcome to Womanhood program is offered in Lancaster, CA. The program is not offered in Los Angeles at this time.

When does the Welcome to Womanhood Program begin and end?

The Welcome to Woman Program starts in September and ends in May. Please see the attached workshop schedule.

Are young woman in the Welcome to Womanhood Program mentored by men or women?

The young women are mentored by women, not men.

Enrollment can be completed on the CBMLA website by going to Welcome to Womanhood Mentee Application

Is there a cost for the Welcome to Womanhood Program?

No. The Welcome to Womanhood Program is free and includes a lunch.

Is there a cut-off period for enrollment?

No. Enrollment is open throughout the program period, September thru May.
