Tr’Vel is a Doctoral student in Urban Schooling at the University of California Los Angeles Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. Before returning to UCLA to pursue his Ph.D., he earned his Master’s degree in Education Policy and Management from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
He served as a college counselor to underrepresented students in Los Angeles city schools during his undergraduate career at UCLA, and currently works as a graduate researcher focusing on the educational experience of Black males. He focuses on strategies to increase Black student graduation rates and increase their college retention. He was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2005. His pastimes include going to music concerts, hiking, and invoking foundation-shattering conversations.
