Message from the President
Dear friends,
Thank you for visiting the Concerned Black Men of Los Angeles (CBMLA) webiste.
We are at a unique point in history where we have more professional African American males and females than ever before. We are reaching new heights in virtually all disciplines including the entertainment field, sciences, political arena, and athletics. During this indelible time, we also have an opportunity to uplift our communities to new heights.
We have many challenges ahead that are unique to our culture. Our community is continuously being splintered into the have and have-nots, those with education and financial stability and those without it. Many youth are faced with unhealthy choices like drugs and gangs, as well as the media, with rap videos and messages that tell our youth to get what you can no matter who you need to step on.
There are certain paths we all must take, and along those paths we are often faced with critical decisions that can bring us closer to our main goal or may deter us from reaching our vision indefinitely. Image, as a youth, having the opportunity to seek advice and learn from another professional that has already walked your chosen path. That person can make every step toward success that much easier and every move toward failure that much more difficult. That person would know what moves to make and when to make them versus you having to bear the burden of a difficult decision on your own.
Concerned Black Men of Los Angeles is an opportunity for you to reach out to youth in a way immeasurable. Please join us in the campaign to create communities for our youth that can help provide them with support and guidance instead of fighting to push youth down the wrong paths.
Cordially yours,
Jason McCuller
